ABOUT MYRA DOYLE

It has long been my dream to bring my large portfolio of photographs ‘out of the closet’ and into public view by opening a ‘gallery’ in some beautiful place.

This was achieved when I found an ideal location in Noosa which is both an iconic location and desirable destination on the east coast of Australia in sunny Queensland

I have been blessed with a long and interesting career which has spanned both hemispheres and my husband, Bryan, and I were delighted to call Australia ‘home’ when we became citizens in 2007.

I was brought up in both an artistic and technical environment and I am a very tactile person. My artistic side took me through art at school, then into design and fashion. My long experience in the world of fashion, couture clothes, textiles, interior design, sewing, embroidery and computer sewing machines led me by chance into the realms of professional photography and publishing.

I had a number of technical books published by leading UK Publishing Houses and was also a contributing expert for a variety of magazines. This all led to my becoming the founding Editor of Sewing World Magazine an appointment

I held for 5 years.

Alongside this Bryan and I developed the very first Sewing School dedicated solely to computer sewing machines in the UK – and the exciting world of digitising embroidery was just opening up.

When we moved to Australia we chose Queensland for our home and business location. They were currently promoting Queensland as the ‘smart state’ and were welcoming businesses, such as ours, that majored on all things digital and

computer orientated.

We realised that in Australia digitising embroidery was still very new and over the next 10 years we travelled extensively around the various States promoting, educating and training people in these skills. This led eventually to the opening of the Australian College of Computer Embroidery – please do visit.

Travelling around Australia all this time was a most wonderful adventure and provided the rare and immense opportunity for me to expand my photographic repertoire. The results of these travels in imagery terms is as diverse as the continent.
